چکیده

The H.E.S.S. survey of the Galactic plane has established the existence of a substantial number (∼40) of Galactic TeV γ-ray sources, a large fraction of which remain unidentified. HESS J0632+057 is one of a small fraction of these objects which is point-like in nature (< 2 ′ rms), and is one of only two point-like sources that remain unidentified. Follow-up observations of this object with XMM-Newton have revealed an X-ray source coincident with the TeV source and with the massive star MWC 148, of spectral type B0pe. This source exhibits a hard spectrum, consistent with an absorbed power-law with Γ = 1.26 ± 0.04, and shows significant variability on hour timescales. We discuss this spatial coincidence and the implied spectral energy distribution of this object and argue that it is likely a new γ-ray binary system with a close resemblance to the three known members of this class, and in particular to LS I +61 303. Further X-ray, radio and optical observations of this system are needed to firmly establish HESS J0632+057 as a new member of this rare class of Galactic objects.

Evidence for long-term Gamma-ray and X-ray variability from the unidentified TeV source HESS J0632+057

HESS J0632+057 is one of only two unidentified very-high-energy gamma-ray sources which appear to be point-like within experimental resolution. It is possibly associated with the massive Be star MWC 148 and has been suggested to resemble known TeV binary systems like LS I +61 303 or LS 5039. HESS J0632+057 was observed by VERITAS for 31 hours in 2006, 2008 and 2009. During these observations, n...

VERITAS observations of HESS J0632+057

HESS J0632+057 is one of only two unidentified high energy gamma-ray sources which appear to be point-like in nature. It is possibly associated with the massive star MWC 148 and has been suggested to resemble known TeV binary systems like LS I +61 303 or LS 5039. These binaries are rare and extreme (only three TeV binaries are known to date), and their gamma-ray emission mechanism has not been ...

The radio counterpart of the likely TeV binary HESSJ 0632 + 057

The few known γ-ray binary systems are all associated with variable radio and Xray emission. The TeV source HESS J0632+057, apparently associated with the Be star MWC148, is plausibly a new member of this class. Following the identification of a variable X-ray counterpart to the TeV source we conducted GMRT and VLA observations in June-September 2008 to search for the radio counterpart of this ...

Detection of Vhe Γ-rays from Hess J0632+057 during the 2011 February X-ray Outburst with the Magic Telescopes

The very high energy (VHE) γ-ray source HESS J0632+057 has recently been confirmed to be a γ-ray binary. The optical counterpart is the Be star MWC 148, and a compact object of unknown nature orbits it every ∼321 d with a high eccentricity of ∼0.8. We monitored HESS J0632+057 with the stereoscopic MAGIC telescopes from 2010 October to 2011 March and detected significant VHE γ-ray emission durin...

18135 - 1751 = HESS J 1813 - 178 : A new cosmic high energy accelerator from keV to TeV 1

We report the discovery of a soft gamma ray source, namely IGR J18135-1751, detected with the IBIS imager on board the INTEGRAL satellite. The source is persistent and has a 20-100 keV luminosity of ∼5.7 × 10 34 erg s −1 (assuming a distance of 4kpc). This source is coincident with one of the ten objects recently reported by the HESS collaboration as part of the first TeV survey of the inner pa...
